Gardens and Environment

At Royal Woods Resort we are proud of our stunning gardens.  Determination to provide seclusion and tranquillity for our guests led the design team to allocate some 40-50% of the resort's 12 acre allotment to these gardens and natural green space.

A lagoon style pool with relaxing waterfall provides the perfect backdrop for gourmet barbeques at sunset or under the stars.  This social area is beautifully complemented by our lush tropical gardens, brimming with native bird life.

Respect and conservation of the local environment is paramount in Royal Woods 'green' philosophies. Ensuring one of our gardening staff is a trained horticulturist has enabled us to think more strategically on the way we manage our extensive garden areas.  We have actively reduced the amount of water used for irrigation and have selected native plants that require little or no water to survive, are more weather resilient and require little in the way of regular maintenance.  We have transplanted plants and trees that were not in an optimal position and have selected and incorporated organic matter or supplies that allow us to minimise the use of pesticides.  Organic compost is used in the gardens to improve soil quality and mulching of garden waste material (namely branches and leaves etc) enables us to reuse and recycle natural materials.  Our soil improvement strategy has seen the use of water retention materials such as water crystals to improve water penetration in the soil and to increase the intervals between plant watering and irrigation. As part of our water conservation strategy, we have installed two 9,500 litre water tanks for use in watering the tropical gardens and topping up our stunning pools.

When you stay with us, allow yourself to be consumed by the beauty, breathing in our natural environment or simply take a walk admiring the different shades our vegetation offers.
